I mentioned that on Friday evening we are having dinner with friends. I am to make a dessert of some kind. Spaghetti and Lasagna are on the menu. Any ideas of a good dessert that would go with this meal???
We are so excited to get to spend a night with friends without kids! (Thanks for changing your plans Mom and Dad Walden!) We have a fun night of snacks and games planned! Can't wait...

Here's something off the top of my head. Maybe you've made it before. I had made the choc. version, but never this one, until I found it in the new Hobe Sound WOW cookbook.
Desert Storm Cake
Bake yellow cake mix, according to pkg. directions. While still warm poke holes in cake and pour caramel ice cream topping over the cake. Let cool. Mix box of vanilla pudding according to pkg. directions. Spread over cake. Chill for 10-15 min. then spread cool whip on top. Sprinkle with mini choc. chips, 5 Heath candy bars (crushed), and pecans (if desired).
How about Cherry Delight? It's kind of an old faithful but it tastes good and I think it goes well with Italian.
CHERRY DELIGHT
1/2 stick butter
1 lg. can cherry pie filling
1 (12 oz.) Cool Whip
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1 c. sugar
Graham crackers, crushed for crust
Mix cream cheese and sugar for 2 minutes on medium speed. Then add Cool Whip. Mix graham crackers and butter in separate bowl. Spread graham cracker mixture in a 9x13 inch pan, put the crust in freezer for 10 minutes.
Then take out and spread your cream cheese and whipped cream mixture on the crust. Then put the cherry pie filling on top of the mixture. Keep in fridge.
That sounds like fun! Greg and I have only been out 2 times by ourselves since the kids have been born. Once for breakfast while black Friday shopping and the other time was just this past Valentines Day. If your like me, you'll think about the kids a lot and will be ready to get home. Every time Greg and I would see other kids it would make us think of our own. Wow, how they change us!
tiramisu :) :) :)
This recipe is easy because you only dirty the cake pan and the bowl used to melt the butter....
Cherry Delight
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 can crushed pineapple, do not drain
1 box yellow cake mix
2 sticks butter
In 9x13 pan layer cherry pie filling, then crushed pineapple. Sprinkle dry cake mix on top. Pour melted margarine over cake mix. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes.
or you could make Fudge Pie but I don't have that one memorized. If you want the recipe let me know.
Hi, Karen! I'm a lurker, and I have a yummy dessert for you. :)
Bake a devils food cake. Punch little holes all over the top. Pour a can of sweetened condensed milk in the holes and let cool. Top with cool whip and add crushed Heath bars on top. Very good!
looks like it should be cherry delight but I speak from experience...the cake annonymous mentioned is DELICIOUS!!!! YUM! I could overnight you some fudge!??
Another easy one: Prepare and bake brownies (any 9x13 kind) according to box directions for cake-like brownies. Once cooled, cut up in 1-inch cubes and arrange randomly in a large bowl. Combine 2 1/2 cups cold milk and 2 packages of your favorite flavor instant Jello (3 oz size). Fold in one carton (8 oz.) cool whip. Poor Jello mixture over the brownies. Top with your favorite candy bar and/or nuts.
Hmmmm, Tamara! That sound delicious!
Isn't it funny how the same name is used for many different recipes?
You could make cake balls...
After I made my comment this morning I thought that I should have told you to ask Betty Krick or Michelle Stuart. J/K Michelle. It looks like desert is covered anyway.
I almost posted the cake that anonymous posted too. Except, I also pour a jar of hot fudge topping after the pouring the condensed milk in the holes. YUM! :) Rich but delicious.
